PETITION TO URGE COUNCIL TO ACT ON UNAUTHORISED TRAVELLER ENCAMPMENTS
I have repeatedly raised my frustrations at the current approach from Brighton and Hove City Council to dealing with unauthorised traveller encampments. The annual, costly, game of cat and mouse is not sustainable or fair on local residents.
Too often, residents feel like their views and concerns appear to be ignored by the City Council. Repeated encampments at places like Wild Park, Wilson Avenue, Happy Valley and elsewhere cause real and genuine frustration and fear for many residents.
Although this is an issue for the council, not the Government, I am hoping that this petition will raise the profile of the issue in Brighton and Hove and encourage the Council to act.
I presented my petition in parliament last year and would like to thank the thousands of local residents who took the time to add their name.
